Our Vision Statement

(Where we are going; who we strive to be as followers of Christ)

Good Shepherd is a congregation that is:

      Alive in Christ

            Faithful to Christ

                        Welcoming to All

Alive in Christ

Here in this place, the Spirit works through the Word and Sacraments to create people of passion. Baptized into Christ’s new life, we work to carry out Christ’s ministry of reconciliation through our active ministry teams.

Faithful to Christ

We remain faithful to Christ as we stay faithful to the Word and the command to “Go and make disciples.” All that we do here at Good Shepherd is driven by our mission statement which is based on the first two commands from God simply put: Love God; Love People.

Welcoming to All

We welcome all here at Good Shepherd. Being a welcoming church is a goal of every ministry team. Who ever you are, we welcome you and seek ways to help you feel at home, to worship, learn, serve and grow in our church family!

Mission Statement

(How we are going to get there.)

As Followers of Jesus we will grow by:

    Reaching out to others

        Deepening lives of faith

          Strengthening the community of faith

            Serving neighbors near and far

Reaching Out to Others

We continually work to find diverse ways to offer that ‘cup of cold water’ to those in need in the world, community and in our family, to communicate and share Christ’s love and healing with others, to be non-judgmental and welcoming.

Deepening Lives of Faith

Through the Holy Spirit, God works to deepen the lives of faith in his people. Our part as a church is to help lay the groundwork.  We help prepare the soil, sow the seeds and we water:  God provides the growth.

Strengthening the Community of Faith

As the Good Shepherd cares for us, we seek to shepherd and care for one another. Through small groups, fellowship events, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Stephen Ministry and home and hospital visitation, God’s care is reflected in our response to each other’s needs.  And we enjoy the relationship we share in our family of faith by having fun together, too!

Serving Neighbors Near and Far

As followers of Christ we are called to care for all people and advocate for those with no voice. We do this through our Justice ministry by active involvement with Fair Trade, Bread for the World, Habitat for Humanity, fund raising for local charitable organizations, providing a food pantry, making quilts to distribute overseas where they are needed for warmth and shelter, and by supporting  Lutheran World Relief, ELCA, Lutheran Social Services of Michigan.
